[INFOGRAPHIC] TRINIDAD TECSON: A FEMALE SOLDIER AND NURSE IN THE PHILIPPINE REVOLUTION

Trinidad Tecson is a hero known as the “Mother of Biak-na-Bato” as she organized groups of women to nurse wounded and sick Filipino soldiers. She was likened to another Filipino hero which is Melchora Aquino the “Mother of the Katipunan” as they nursed wounded soldiers in the battlefield. She was also a member of the Katipunan and an active soldier in the battlefield before organizing a group that would nurse wounded soldiers. There are twelve (12) battles that she participated in Bulacan including the Battle-of-Biak-na-Bato. Tecson is given the title of “Mother of Philippine Red Cross” for nursing her fellow Katipuneros. – Mae Anne T. Fajardo
